Optimal health starts at home. We offer in-home nursing care in Calgary and area with a team of professional Licensed Practical Nurses and Registered Nurses.
At Umbrella Home Care, we believe that if there is a lack of primary intervention and medical support at home where clients need it the most, it often results in the cycle of increased hospital admissions and caregiver burnout. Our nursing services focus on continuity of care to help our clients progress and improve their quality of life where they feel the most comfortable and relaxed – at home.
Administering medications.
Our team of nurses is trained and qualified to administer medications appropriately, including oral, injection, IV, etc. We educate our clients about medications and, when necessary, provide teaching on how to self-administer.
Diabetic management.
While you are in the hospital, it can be overwhelming to receive so much information within a short time. And after discharge, you are expected to manage it all by yourself. You do not have to worry. UHC can help and guide you with administering medications such as insulin and educate you as needed.
Postoperative care.
Including pain relief, wound care, personal hygiene, mobility assistance, range of motion exercises, and help with comfort. Postoperative care at home is proven to have a more positive impact on the client’s progression to heal and get back to life.
Wound care.
We assist with wound care management, dressing changes for many different types of wounds and closely monitor clients for infections and other possible complications. We help our clients to minimize pain and optimize the healing process.
Ostomy care.
Our clients needing ostomy can live as independently as possible with in-home nursing services. We help clients with emptying, changing appliances. We also manage new and stable ostomies. UHC will provide patient education as needed.
Catheter care.
Our clients requiring catheters can continue to live at home with UHC nursing services. We can assist with emptying the bag, changing the catheter and its appliances as needed. We can also provide patient education on self-catheterization if needed. Catheter care helps clients to maintain their health, hygiene, and can prevent infections.
Peritoneal dialysis.
Setting up peritoneal dialysis can be challenging. The bags are heavy to lift up and machines can be tricky to set up. Umbrella Home Care can help you to get it set up and manage it for you.
Ongoing support for family members.
Caring for a family member in need of medical aid at home can be overwhelming and stressful. We provide support when you need it and training for basic medical care for your loved one.
As caregivers, our goal is to help improve your quality of life and maintain your independence at home as much as possible. No two clients are alike and whether you need minimal assistance or your needs are more complicated, we can customize an in-home care plan to meet your expectations.
