Becoming the primary caregiver to a loved one often times means putting yourself second. You need and deserve a break from caregiving to prevent burnout – we’re here to help.
As a caregiver, you devote all of your time and energy to caring for your loved one. This is a selfless act of service that can take a toll when you don’t schedule time for self-care. Remember, you are an essential part of your loved one’s life and it’s important to care for your needs as well. When you take time for yourself, you come back well-rested and recharged, which benefits both of you.
Professional in-home nursing care.
We are trained and qualified to administer medications, provide general nursing care, and keep our clients comfortable at home.
Customized respite care.
Whether you need a day or a week, we can tailor our respite care to you. The most important part is that you schedule time for yourself and we will take care of the rest.
Compassionate support for you.
Many times, taking a break from caring for your loved one comes with feelings of guilt and resistance which is often the reason caregivers are hesitant to take breaks. Our team is compassionate and sensitive to this and will reassure you that you’re making the right decision.
At Umbrella Home Care, we understand that it takes time to build trust and confidence – especially when it comes to a family member or friend that you’re caring for. Part of our policy is working closely with families and maintaining clear communication. Our goal is to provide trustworthy and reliable care so that you can take a much-deserved break with peace of mind.
What is respite home care?
The purpose of respite care is to provide temporary relief for caregivers. Respite care services allow caregivers the opportunity to take care of their wellbeing and tend to their responsibilities.
How does respite care help your loved one?
Being a caregiver for your loved one can be overwhelming at times. And when you don’t take care of yourself, or you’re experiencing burnout, you are no longer able to provide the care that your loved one needs. As the saying goes, ‘You can’t pour from an empty cup’. Respite care helps your loved one because you come back recharged and refreshed. Our team of Registered Nurses can also offer caregiving advice and emotional support. We can be the partner you need to provide top-notch care for your family member or dear friend.
Who receives respite home care?
Caregivers, typically family members and friends, receive respite care as a break from caregiving duties.
How long does respite home care last?
Respite care can last for as long as you need the break and as frequently as you require needed breaks from caregiving duties. For example, if you’d like a break every two weeks or twice a month, we can set up a customized schedule that works for you.
Is respite home care covered by insurance?
Yes, some personal insurance plans may cover the cost of nursing care. Please call your insurance company to find out more. Please call 587-500-4455 if you want to find out how our home care cost can be covered by Alberta Health Services.
How much does respite home care cost?
